Matrix Video Switch

I recently installed a video switch at my church which is being used in a classroom setting. The room includes two ceiling mounted projectors and can be divided into two separate rooms using a folding door in the middle. A laptop and VCR/DVD player are available in each room as sources for the projectors.

The Blackbox matrix video switch that was installed includes the ability to manage four independent input and output devices. The VCR set ups also include a composite to RGB converter box since the only input ports on the switch are RGB based. Control of the switch is done through an included serial based keypad. We were easily able to switch from analog sources (composite from the VCRs) to the digital sources from the laptops and back. Sources can also be sent to one projector or both.

IRotate

I recently had to replace an LCD monitor at work and recevied a new Dell that supports portrait as well as landscape display. I quickly found out that the Matrox dual head video card didn't have driver support for rotating the OS. After a bit of searching I came upon a free little utility called "Irotate" that does exactly that, it rotates the OS display on any number of monitors that you have attached to your system. Nice!
